Is it good bringing in a pregnant stray cat when u have other cats.?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: pregnant cat

I have 2 other girl cats and i found this pregnant cat 21/2 months ago. She due any day now so i let her in cause i don't want her to have them outside where its hot and dangerous for her litter and her.

It's fine, but they should not be able to interact with the pregnant stray. The stray needs to have a room all to herself (bathroom, spare bedroom, etc) with all the necessities (food, water, litter box). She doesn't need the stress, and you don't need to risk injury/illness to your own cats.

She is a stray, and she should be evaluated by a vet soon to get her health evaluated. This can wait until after she gives birth, so you can also have the kittens evaluated.

How do I get stray cats off of my property?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cats

My one male cat has been acting out ever since a new male cat has been coming onto my property. The stray (actually he has a collar) has sprayed all over the outside of my house.

My cat, in turn has been spraying and urinating everywhere in the house. He attacks the other cat.

It is actually 2-3 cats. I'm at my wits end. Should I trap these cats? Or is there any type of spray to deter them. My yard is an acre!

This is a tough one. I think the goal is to return the cats to their owners. Explain what has been going on. There are ordinances that actually prohibibit cats from freely roaming and destroying property or possessions.

I would not try to get up close to the cat. It doesn't know you and for all you know it may have rabies. Get a couple of traps and trap the cats. From within the cage, you can try to look at the collar to see if the cat has a number on the collar. Make a call to the owners if they do.

Otherwise, I would contact Animal Control.

If you can get close enough—spray them with a water guy–or with the ones that are huge–spray near them.

Training outdoor cat to use litter tray?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat training

Hi my cat normally goes outside and does not have a litter tray, however she is just over a week away from giving birth to her first litter and I'd like to keep her inside just in case. She had a litter tray as a kitten but she is now flatly refusing to use it. Any ideas how I can persuade her to jump back in the saddle as it were??? Many thanks in advance.

If your cat is a week away from giving birth then why not put her in an enclosed pen indoors with a bedding or nest area , her food and a litter tray nearby. She will naturally become used to the litter tray as there may be a few accidents for the first couple of days but as you know cats are clean and she will instinctively start to toilet in the right place as she will not want any harm done to her new borns.

Why are TSA agents still afraid of liquids over 3 oz?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat hygiene

This "liquid boogeyman" story has been proven to be a government hoax. (Team Bush created it as a diversion from the Gonzales indictment). Still the TSA scaredy cats confiscate our toiletries.
Some people say they are allowed to do this because of the traveler based complaints about the TSA agents lack of personal hygiene.

It's all basically smoke and mirrors. Better to do SOMETHING than nothing…gives them something to do, so they make up absurd crap like this. Same goes for silly junk like why clippers aren't allowed, but knitting needles are…wth?? It's just another Bush and Co. way to instill even more fear in the traveling public.
As far as confiscating the toiletries for the personal use of the TSA agents…don't be so silly. TSA personnel are FAR more professional in their appearance and demeanor than the minimum wage guys that were doing the same job before 911. These are federal employees now…they don't get to take that stuff home with them.

How are cat treats different than dry cat food?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat food

What would make them different? Same size, same flavors (Chicken Delight, Ocean Fish, Whisker-Lickin' Tuna), same texture…

My cat acts like it's Christmas when I open the Feline Greenies bag, though.

Does he just *think* it's something better because he gets it less frequently than the cat food, which is available regularly? Or is it really different?

They're usually a lot higher in fat, which cats find irresistible.

Baby mouse My Cat foud it I Need help how to take care of it?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat care

I just found a baby mouse i need help to take care of it. my cat bite it but it is still living we put proxside of the wound .it is feeling better and it is moving. know i need to know how to take care of it its eyes is sometime open but mostley cloused what do i feed it?
somtimes it opens it mouth and makes a weard sound.
can they drink water?

it's most probably just really scared!
peroxide isn't so good for wounds, lightly salted water is far better.
it would be best if you just take it to a quiet place and let it go.
i know you have the best intentions, but wild mice don't associate with humans, and the stress of all this inc your interactions will in reality do more harm than good.
stressed bodies don't heal as well. if it is going to survive, it will do it better on it's own, naturally!

is my child healt safe by having cat in the house??

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat hygiene

we just got cat and we love him ,however how harmfull are cats hair and since i am hygiene freak how can i handle having cat in the house,my wife wants him in the house all the time and i prefer him out when his older,my main concern is if he goes out and than back in that he will pick out something from other cats, another question is how often do we need to change litter box?is it ok for cats to sleep next to us in the same bed?can cats hair be harmfull to humans?thanks for all those who will answer my questions

Well, for 17 years I've worn a 'cat hat' in bed, sharing my pillow with my oldest cat and the only down side is the fur mixed in with my hair in the morning (more of that on the comb than my own so I shouldn't complain).

Kids exposed to cats at young ages tend to have far less allergies later in life than those that are kept in hygienic environments, so cats and dogs benefit kids a LOT that way.

Kids usually learn a good deal of empathy from pets too.

The box needs to be scooped whenever something new is in it–either the urine ball or the poop. Put it into a plastic lined bag (an empty cat food bag or a bird seed bag is perfect) and dump that into the outside garbage when it's half full, or every few days. One cat won't do much in the box, but keeping the wet stuff in there lets the ammonia smells accumulate–and tossing the used litter into the kitchen garbage only intensifies the smells. It needs to go outside after you've scooped it, or be contained in a crimped down bag.

That will keep the house smelling good, the cat will be ok with a clean box, and the babies won't be grabbing any waste items out of the box when you're not looking.

Sleeping next to a person is fine, most cats like to do that anyways. The only downside is if you chew on their paws — ok, that's not THAT far fetched, my sig. other watched one of my cats trying to put her paw into my mouth when I was sound asleep….I of course had no clue about it till he woke me up. But really, don't worry about it, cats aren't anywhere near as unhygenic as dogs are. It'll be fine.

Has anyone ever tried clicker training their cat?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat training

Just want to know if you had any sucess?

I would never have thought about clicker! My cat will sit for treats, but he will always try to bat it out of you hand first… I'd be interested to see if it works…
Good luck! I have a feeling you might need it if your cat is anything like mine! :)

What should I do about my cat not finishing her food? Should I give her something different?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat food

My cat is 5 months now and at first, she would finish her food for everytime I fed her. I know since she is getting older, I would have to feed her more. However, for the last two weeks, she wouldn't even finish her food. Perhaps that's a sign to give her something different but if it is, what's the best brand for cat foods? I've been feeding her Whiskas, Friskies (canned foods) and Purina (dry foods) since I got her.

First, be grateful that your cat does not show a tendency to overeat.

I'd just leave her a good quality dry food free choice. It sounds like you're one of the lucky individuals that isn't going to have to worry about dealing with the health problems that go along with a too fat pet. Please don't think that it's a good idea to encourage her to eat more than she needs–that will cause problems on down the line. If she's at a healthy lean weight and showing normal growth she doesn't need to eat any more than she wants to.
